[17] Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord. [18] For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.

* *To boast*: Latin (Gloriari in se) ||| Greek (Kauchasthai epi heautou) ||| Hebrew (Lehit-halel be’atsmo)

.....To draw confidence from one's own works, pedigree, or intellectual abilities. To boast of one's own ministry.

* *To boast in the Lord*: Greek (Kauchasthai en Kyriō) ||| Hebrew (Lehit-halel b'Adonai) ||| Latin (Gloriari in Domino)

.....this is to point out what God has done through our weakness. An act of worship where all personal merit is declined, attributing everything to God.

* *To commend oneself*: Latin (Se ipsum commendare) ||| Greek (Heauton sunistanai) ||| Hebrew (Le-halel et ‘atsmo)

.....This is to build one's own credibility on one's works. It is a form of fragile human glory.

* *To be commended by the Lord*: Latin (A Domino commendari) ||| Greek (Hypo Kyriou sunistasthai) ||| Hebrew (Ratsouï al-yedei HaShem)

.....This is to receive God's attestation through spiritual fruits and the transformation of lives. This is the only recommendation that carries weight.

* *Lord*: Hebrew (Adonai and YHWH) ||| Latin (Dominus) ||| Greek (Kyrios)

...The living and personal God. The title of glory and power. The Master of all that exists.

💥 Help us, Father, to glorify ourselves in You and in You alone.

May everything we do be for You and not for our ego, our name, or our possessions.

Tender Father, help us to make decisions by considering You first and not ourselves.

💥 Father, we do not want to go where You do not call us.

We do not want to say what You do not want us to say.

Tender Father, spare us from self-proclaiming ourselves, from bearing a calling that is not our own.

 💥 Father, there is weight when it is You who commends us.

❤️‍🔥🙌🏽 May humility and obedience to You be our portion in the name of Jesus Christ. ❤️‍🔥🙌🏽

💥 Our true glory is in You.
