[51] When the time drew near for him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus set his mind on going to Jerusalem. [52] He sent messengers ahead of him, who went and entered a Samaritan village to prepare a place for him. [53] But the people there did not welcome him, because he was heading for Jerusalem. [54] When the disciples James and John saw this, they asked, “Lord, do you want us to call down fire from heaven to consume them?” [55] Jesus turned and rebuked them, saying, “You do not know what kind of spirit you are of.”

🩵🩵🩵In most traditional and ancient cultures, hospitality is a sacred duty. Failure to entertain someone is considered a serious insult, an act of open hostility or social contempt.

♦️♦️♦️Jesus teaches that one can speak in the name of God while being inspired by a spirit of destruction. The fire that Jesus brought to earth is not the fire of sulfur that destroys bodies, but the fire of the Holy Spirit that transforms hearts.

Wow, what a lesson.

We don't want to be among those who abuse the anointing.

We don't want to use the authority You have given us to terrorize others.

We want to use Your anointing on our lives, guided by Your Spirit, with love 💞 🪉.
